Tutorial 01
After shared book reading it is a great time to talk about the book. Your child has learned a lot during shared book reading and is now thinking about many things.
Perhaps your child would like to
ask you questions.
share new thoughts with you.
watch the signs in the DGS videos in the book.
read or listen to the book again in another language.
read the book again alone.
practice signs.

practice signs.
You can also offer your child the opportunity to continue working on the book together.
You can continue talking about the book:
How could the story continue?
What did you like and dislike in the book?
Which is your favourite character in the book and why?
You can make up games. For example:
True or false?
The animals in the book played basketball.
True or false?
In the end, 11 animals took part.
True or false?
The giraffe has kicked the ball into the waterhole.
True or false?
Guess who?
Who got the ball out of the waterhole?
Which animal was the goalkeeper?
What color were the animals’ jerseys?
I see something you don’t see
and that is brown, blue and red. It has a mane.
and that is black and white. And it’s round.
and that is brown and green. It has leaves.
Paint a picture
For example, you can draw how the story could continue. Or you can draw a character from the book.
Craft something from the story
For example, Captain Crinklebeard's ship.
Replay the story
You can take on roles from the book and continue the story. Use cuddly toys or puppets to portray other characters.
Make something after
For example, you can take photos, as with “Lotta and Klicks”.
Go on a trip
You can go into the forest, as in “The Little Beaver and the Animals by the River”. Or you can go to the zoo and look for the animals from “The Savannah Kickers”.
Cook or bake together
You can bake cookies that look like the golden turtle. Or you can cook a cream sauce, like in “Boje takes off”.
Cuddle up and make yourselves comfortable
as in “The Wished-for Child”. So you can also relax together after reading.
If your child particularly enjoyed a book, offer an idea that you can try out immediately after shared book reading or the next day.
